This water safety activity book is designed to teach children the fundamentals of pool, boating, and general water safety. Water safety education helps children build awareness, confidence, and respect for aquatic environments—skills that can reduce risk and save lives.
We encourage parents and caregivers to use this book in combination with professional swim lessons. While swim lessons help children develop physical swimming skills, this book reinforces important safety concepts such as recognizing hazards, following pool and boating rules, using life jackets, and knowing when to ask for help. Learning both the skills and the safety behaviors gives children a stronger foundation for lifelong water safety.
We recommend that you go through the book with your children, discuss each topic together, and talk about how the lessons apply to their own experiences—at pools, beaches, lakes, and on boats. Revisiting these topics before and after swim lessons can help reinforce learning and encourage safe decision-making around water.
Water safety is especially important because drowning is preventable, and education plays a critical role in prevention. Teaching children how to respect water, follow safety rules, and understand their own abilities helps empower them to enjoy aquatic activities safely and responsibly.
Please take time to study this book with your children and help protect our most precious resource—our children.
